It is not new thing that Indonesia skilled worker less qualified than neighbor country in the region. First of all is like barrier language, although its not much but still become the obstacle. Other thing is the direction of Indonesia education seem not sure, every new administration always new policy in place, this is not support for the continuation of the program.
Actually Indonesia in the past become the center or favorite place to study, but time has change that becoming less important. Perhaps Indonesia education just not improving while other country learn and improve better. That's why their worker much better than skilled worker in Indonesia.
In developed country they have good collaboration between industry and university. If we see how the job agent always hunt the fresh graduate, even before they finish their study. Mostly talented student have very good opportunity in the job market.
If compare in Indonesia, mostly job agent just passive in searching for job seeker. Perhaps too many job seeker than the job itself. Still we can see there is no or less collaboration between industry and university.
Although there is called internship program for fresh graduate, but still would not help much. The direction of the education or the program still not sure, in providing a qualified skilled worker. Some say need standardization in education, since the facility not same between place in Indonesia the obstacle arise.
Perhaps need to sit down on the table, whoever the stakeholder in education, industry and administration. Just to make the right direction and long term plan for education to provide qualified skilled worker. We don't want to be left behind than other country in the region.
